Haiti: An Acupuncture Ambassador report
Acupuncture Ambassadors was honored to be able to play a small
role in helping our dear friend, colleague and member of our training
team Michele Ladue, L.Ac., on her recent medical mission to Haiti. Here is a short
preliminary report of her experiences.
Dear Friends,
Thank you all so much for your generous donations to help support the
Naturopathic Relief Clinic for Haitian Earthquake Survivors (http://haiti.citronica.com/)
. Because of your generosity we transported 9 large suitcases filled
with healing supplies to Haiti, then restocked items needed while we
were there. We also hired local healers to help us, 2 who were
providing bone-setting, massage therapy, and cupping to the folks with
injuries and pain from the trauma of the earthquake. Venerable Jinpa and I offered Acupuncture, herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies,
essential oil blends, and flower essences to the poor communities.
We set up free clinics in churches, schools, orphanages, and in donated
homes in ghetto communities. We treated thousands of people, half of
which were children suffering from malnutrition, skin infections, worms
and other parasites, fevers, diarrhea, belly aches from dirty water and
improper sanitation.
The Haitian people responded positively to the healing modalities,
especially the acupuncture and acupressure. I would press on a point
and their pain would be completely gone. They were calling us the
miracle Doctors at one of the locations. Patients would walk in shy,
with pained faces and walk out more vibrant, pain free and smiling. Some would even linger around helping or go out and bring back their
friends. They were very grateful for the care given.
This was very heart opening experience for me to provide this level of
service to a community in such need. Venerable Jinpa and I were asked
to give an interview to educate the community about Acupuncture and the
clinic to be broadcast on Haitian radio. We hope to continue the
clinics in the future and work together with local healers and the
community training them more about some of our healing techniques and
integrating their own local natural medicines.
Much love to you from Michelle
